Hello and welcome to our new website!
Hi, I’m Laura, Accessible Communications Manager at Learning Disability Wales.
I’m thrilled to write our first blog post and introduce you to our new Easy Read Wales website!
I’m new to this blog writing thing, but I guess a good place to start would be explaining who we are, what this website is all about, and why having a dedicated space for Easy Read Wales is important.
Who are we?
We are Learning Disability Wales’s Easy Read and accessible information service. We work with people and organisations, big and small, to make information simpler, clearer and easier to understand.
We’re really proud of the work we do, and the best bit is: All the profit we make supports Learning Disability Wales.
Learning Disability Wales has been standing up for the rights of people with a learning disability since 1983.
When you work with us, you’re making your information more accessible and supporting the wider work we do at Learning Disability Wales.
Win-win 😊
Why we’re here
Our core value is simple: Everyone has the right to information that is clear and understandable.
We’ve created this website to promote our service and share what we do. Making Easy Read for clients is a big part of that, but we also do much more.
We support everyone to get better accessible information by:
- Working with others to develop standards for good quality Easy Read.
- Raising awareness about why accessible information matters.
- Sharing free resources to help you make your own Easy Read.
- Offering free and paid training (find out about our public courses and bespoke sessions here).
- Supporting people who want to get it right – but just need a little help.
We want this to be a helpful, practical place for anyone looking to improve their accessible information.
